If you are on a budget or maybe need to call someone overseas, then you know VoIP like Skype and WhatsApp are key. However, they are also in the market to beat cell phone service provides by keeping calls on the cheap and without contracts. So heavy promotion on price and security, it makes sense that WhatsApp is having huge amounts of growth.
The app which allows you to text your friends for free is now seeing their growth explode due to their VoIP service. Now they are reporting more than 1 million calls are being made over their encrypted servers. This has made it a hot bed for politics as it is reported that the encryption cannot be broke. Brazil and others have set their eyes on trying to shut down the service or have it changed. So far it looks like that is unlikely to change, as their owners (Facebook) is enjoying their profit.
