Microsoft has launched their new video introducing the Xbox One S at E3.
During the presentation at E3, Microsoft did clear up a few things that have come as a surprise to us. The newer Xbox One S will be cheaper (starting price at $299.00 USD) and will actually come out in August of this year. It is a great move to beat PlayStation 4 NEO and Nintendo NX, both slated for 2017 releases at this time.
Besides the early release and lower price, it includes a newly updated wireless controller, deeper color, video with High Dynamic Range technology. be able to supposedly Stream 4K video, supports UHD Blu-Ray. Best of all, it will also support Xboxb 360 classic games. It can also include up to 2 TB HDD internally, which will likely bump the price point up pretty big.
You can see the video down below.
Are you surprised by Microsoft’s move? I am, I was expecting a much higher price point for the starting device. Also, did not see them coming out with it so soon! However, I do applaud them. Microsoft has a tough time beating their competitors early on or even following up quickly. So being able to launch their mid-gen console first may actually be an advantage for them. It will be interesting to see how well it performs in the holiday season and next year.
