This topic is a bit off topic, but it does talk about an electronic. What happened to Japan was horrible, and while they could not predict the earthquake nor tsunami-the warnings did save others lives. A weather radio can make a difference no matter where you live, yet so many households lack these important devices. So before hurricane season comes on, or for any nature disaster-I will be showing you a few options for these handy radios.
WeatherX Dynamo Weatherband Radio/Flashlight with Lantern is only $20.00, but combines two important items for any emergency. This would be a good option for those who live flood, blizzard, or hurricane zones. But really it could fit anybodys needs.
Midland® HH50 Pocket Weather Alert Radio is a good option for those who need a light radio to carry. Perfect for emergency workers by a long shot. It costs around $25.00.
Yet the best one is the kind that uses both batteries, and power to run it! The Midland® ER-102 Emergency Crank Radio with Weather Channels is high priced at $50.00, but would be worth it in so many ways. In fact, I am planning to buy one as soon as I can. This model also allows you to charge other electronics to it via USB, so be sure to buy a couple spare USB cables.
All 3 models can be bought at Radio Shack, but you should be able to find one at most mass retailers, hunting/sporting good, and online. Prices will vary at stores, so be sure to know your budget. Also notice, I did not link to any of retailers nor are any companies paying me to speak on this topic. This post was all my own opinion.
