Back a couple of weeks ago, Tokyo held a big showcase for Nintendo’s next big item-the Nintendo 3DS. Yet it has gained a lot of issues already even though it has yet to be released! Doctors issued warnings about this console not being good for kids nor should anyone use it for periods longer than 30 minutes each. That appears to be only the beginning of the issues that Nintendo will face.
At the showcase many(or one magazine is reporting) of the testers quickly turned off the 3D feature due to feeling sick only after a few minutes. However, many others claim that they felt fine and have had no issues with it. But we need to remember that no long term studies have been done and we have no idea on how long term use will affect users. Does this mean that you should avoid the device? No, but you should stay open minded and listen to what your body is telling you while playing with the device. You can also turn off the feature if you wish to do so. If I ever buy one, I will likely keep the 3D feature off just because I am not a fan of it.
I am not too worried about the 3D feature, what I am worried about is how Nintendo is grabbing onto any gimmick. They need to go back to the design lab and come up with a completely new idea. I also want to say that while I am not too worried about the 3D feature, I still wonder how it will affect people’s health further down the road.
What do you think about this new feature? Does it sound safe? Is 3D over-hyped? I want your thoughts on this.
